Poems Written By or For Jessie

Thanks

I think we all can recall the history of Thanksgiving: the Pilgrims and the Indians coming together to give thanks. But as each of us went our separate ways for Thanksgiving vacation, we experienced different things with a similar idea. I can recall my Thanksgiving quite clearly, only for the fact that it was just a few weeks ago and it makes me smile when I see my wonderful family gathered around the table, the food so nicely and lovingly prepared, and the smiles on our faces. I am sure that most of you can remember a moment similar to mine, but the reason I remember mine so clearly was because of the prayer.
My niece, Jessica asked to say the blessing. If you know me, you’ve probably heard me talk of her or had her picture shoved in your face. But that day was extra special when I saw her fold her tiny hands, close her crystal blue eyes, bow her blonde head, and fill the silent air with her sweet words of praise. My heart leaped in pure love as this four year old child praised Jesus for all of us being able to come together. She sang out words to thank him for her wonderful family.
We all have different things to remember about this Thanksgiving, but as I sit here and write this, tears well up in my eyes because the picture of Jessie will not leave my mind. However, I think it is good, because maybe the more I remember that sweet child, the more I can become like her with a pure heart and soul, because she loved and gave thanks to her Lord
